Family First !
The Revolution movement aims to put parents and children back at the heart of society. The family must once again become the central element of our society!
A Strong Belgium Begins with Strong Families
For several decades, Belgian families have been facing increasing pressure. The cost of living is soaring, access to housing is becoming increasingly difficult, childcare places are lacking, working hours are encroaching on family life, and many parents feel they are constantly forced to choose between their careers, their income and their children.
This reality affects all families, but it hits single-parent families particularly hard, as they alone bear the full burden of financial, educational and organizational responsibilities.
Faced with this situation, the Revolution Movement refuses to consider the family as an economic adjustment variable. On the contrary, we affirm that the family is the fundamental pillar of any balanced, prosperous and supportive society.
It is within the family that values, respect, responsibility, solidarity and love are passed on, allowing a nation to remain united.
If we want to rebuild Belgium, we must begin by rebuilding the conditions that allow families to thrive.
An Ambitious Family Policy
Our vision is simple: every child must be able to grow up in a stable and secure environment, and every parent must have the necessary means to fully assume their role.
To achieve this objective, Revolution proposes a broad national plan structured around several priorities.
Facilitating Access to Housing
No family should have to devote an excessive share of its income to housing.
We propose:
-
the large-scale construction of affordable family housing;
-
the strengthening of social housing;
-
housing assistance adapted to income levels;
-
the creation of a public rental guarantee scheme;
-
the development of solidarity-based housing projects that encourage mutual support between families.
Reconciling Work and Family Life
Today, many parents feel they are constantly racing against time.
We support:
-
working schedules compatible with family life;
-
the development of remote work whenever possible;
-
the creation of a “Family-Friendly Employer” label;
-
hiring incentives for single parents;
-
easier access to training and professional retraining.
Guaranteeing Childcare Solutions for Every Child
The lack of childcare places or suitable childcare solutions represents a major obstacle for many parents.
We propose:
-
the large-scale creation of new childcare places;
-
greater support for childminders and childcare providers;
-
extended opening hours adapted to the realities of modern work;
-
emergency childcare services;
-
enhanced childcare vouchers for low-income families.
Restoring Families' Purchasing Power
As expenses continue to rise, many households struggle to make ends meet.
We propose:
-
a family supplement targeted at the most vulnerable households;
-
the expansion of the social energy tariff;
-
a tax system that is more family-friendly;
-
the creation of a family emergency fund capable of intervening quickly in exceptional situations.
Protecting Children from the Consequences of Separation
Because children should never be the victims of conflicts between adults, we propose:
-
a public guarantee for the payment of child support;
-
simplified administrative procedures;
-
rapid public intervention in cases of non-payment.
Preserving Parents' Health and Well-Being
Being a parent is a tremendous responsibility that can sometimes lead to exhaustion.
We want to:
-
improve access to psychological support;
-
develop local mutual-aid networks;
-
introduce respite vouchers enabling parents to take a break while knowing their children are safe.
Ensuring Equal Opportunities for All Children
A child's future should never depend on their parents' income level.
We propose:
-
reducing the real cost of education;
-
free tutoring and academic support accessible to all;
-
enhanced support for sports and cultural activities;
-
the gradual development of healthy and affordable school meals.
Radically Simplifying Administrative Procedures
Families should no longer be forced to navigate a bureaucratic maze to obtain the assistance to which they are entitled.
We propose the creation of a One-Stop Family Service bringing together:
-
family allowances;
-
housing assistance;
-
energy assistance;
-
childcare assistance;
-
social support services.
Benefits would be automatically calculated and granted based on data already held by public administrations.
Our Flagship Measure: A Parental Income of €1,350 per Month
In today's society, the work carried out within the home remains largely invisible.
Yet raising children, supporting their development, ensuring their safety, passing on values and managing a household represents considerable work.
Revolution believes it is time to recognize this essential contribution to society.
That is why we propose the creation of a parental income of €1,350 per month, paid to the parent who chooses to devote a significant part of their time to raising and educating their children.
This measure would be:
-
accessible to mothers and fathers alike;
-
open to single-parent and two-parent families;
-
accompanied by full social security coverage;
-
taken into account in pension calculations.
Unlike certain narratives seeking to impose a single family model, our proposal aims instead to offer genuine freedom of choice.
Today, many parents would like to spend more time with their children but are prevented from doing so for purely financial reasons.
We want to give them that freedom back.
Because raising children is not a burden. It is the most valuable investment a nation can make.
A Society That Invests in Families Invests in Its Future
Our ambition for the next five years is clear:
-
significantly reduce child poverty;
-
improve families' purchasing power;
-
facilitate access to housing;
-
expand childcare solutions;
-
guarantee child support payments;
-
fully recognize the educational role of parents.
The family is not a problem to manage.
The family is the solution to many of the problems facing our society.
By placing parents and children back at the heart of public policy, we can rebuild a more humane, supportive and prosperous Belgium.
Because a strong nation always begins with strong families.
With Revolution, the family once again becomes a national priority.
