The electric car: a green illusion that makes us dependent!
For several years, European citizens have been subjected to a veritable ideological onslaught. In the name of ecology, we are told that the electric car is the future, that the internal combustion engine belongs to the past, and that those who dare to question this vision are irresponsible or hostile to the planet.
Yet behind the slogans, the reality is far less appealing.
Behind every electric car lies a battery. Behind every battery lie tons of lithium, cobalt, nickel and rare earth elements. And behind these raw materials are gigantic mines, devastated landscapes, depleted groundwater reserves, exploited populations, child slaves, and a growing industrial dependence on China.
While Europe eases its conscience by imposing ever more restrictive standards on its citizens, it turns a blind eye to the pollution generated elsewhere to manufacture the very technologies it claims to promote.
We are not eliminating pollution. We are relocating it!
We are not reducing our dependence. We are shifting it!
We are not becoming more sovereign. We are making ourselves vulnerable to new powers!
The official narrative claims that the electric car will save the climate. But how many political leaders truly discuss the environmental cost of lithium extraction? How many mention the colossal quantities of water required for its exploitation? How many explain that manufacturing a battery already generates a significant carbon footprint before the vehicle has even driven its first mile?
This forced transition is based on a simplistic and dogmatic vision of the world.
Ecology should never become a religion! It should be a pragmatic approach aimed at preserving our environment while guaranteeing our freedom, prosperity and sovereignty.
What we are witnessing today looks far more like a policy of constraints than a policy of common sense.
Citizens are being forced to prematurely replace perfectly functional vehicles. Regulations keep multiplying. Taxes keep increasing. Bans keep piling up. Meanwhile, the major industrial powers producing the essential components for this transition continue to accumulate profits and strengthen their geopolitical influence.
The European Union claims it wants to reduce its energy dependence. Yet by relying almost exclusively on the electrification of the vehicle fleet, it is simply replacing one dependency with another. Once again, the EU is completely missing the point!
Yesterday, we depended on oil. Tomorrow, we will depend on lithium, cobalt, rare earth elements and supply chains largely controlled by China.
Is this sovereignty? Is this really a strategy for the future?
Even more concerning, the European Union seems to have already chosen which technologies will be allowed to exist tomorrow. By concentrating most investments and regulations on battery-powered electric vehicles, it risks hindering the development of other promising solutions. Hydrogen, synthetic fuels, advanced biofuels, new generations of ultra-low-emission combustion engines, or innovative technologies using water and hydrogen as energy carriers: the future should not be decided by bureaucrats but by research, innovation and entrepreneurial freedom.
History indeed shows that the greatest breakthroughs are often born where dogma has not yet closed the doors.
At Révolution, we reject this all-or-nothing logic. We reject ideological bans. We reject policies that weaken our industry, impoverish households and increase our dependence on foreign powers.
The future does not lie in the forced elimination of the combustion engine. It lies in the diversification of solutions.
Next-generation combustion engines, synthetic fuels, hydrogen, biofuels, electric vehicles and innovations still unknown today: all avenues should be allowed to coexist and be objectively evaluated on the basis of their real advantages, their overall environmental cost and their impact on our strategic independence.
True ecology does not consist of imposing a single technology.
True ecology consists of seeking balance. Balance between humanity and nature. Balance between innovation and freedom. Balance between environmental protection and the sovereignty of peoples.
Dogmas have always led to dead ends.
Common sense remains the best compass!
We were promised freedom through the electric car. In reality, we simply risk replacing one dependency with another.
Let us not ban combustion engines. Let us not impose electric vehicles.
Let innovation and freedom guide our choices, because diversifying our dependencies is already the first step toward independence.
And independence is precisely what we need most today.
Who can say with certainty what tomorrow's technologies will be? Twenty years ago, few experts imagined the rise of cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence or blockchain technology. So why claim today that the lithium battery represents the definitive culmination of automotive history?
